Young entrepreneurs celebrated as Kidpreneur Challenge Unleashed winners announced

Talent and Entropolis today announced the winners of the 2018 Kidpreneur Challenge Unleashed Pitch Competition.

The competition, which was held in partnership by Talent and EdTech leader Entropolis, invited primary school students from across Australia to develop and pitch their most creative and original business ideas. Talent APAC CEO Mark Nielsen judged the awards, along with Investible CIO Hugh Bickerstaff and Dr Lisa O’Brien, CEO of The Smith Family among others.

The five winning ideas ranged from a water-resistant tracking device to attach to your pet’s collar, to a toy that can shoot marshmallows up to 15 metres.

Nielsen said he was incredibly impressed by the calibre of entries.

“At Talent, we are focused on preparing people for the future of work. I’m very optimistic for our future if these young people are an indication of their generation. They are taking such a bold and socially responsible approach to business, which is very impressive for their age group.”

Talent partnered with Entropolis on the Kidpreneur Challenge as a generational extension of the Talent Unleashed programme, which is designed to foster innovation at every stage of development.

“We are passionate about providing opportunities to entrepreneurs at every level, from primary school children with Kidpreneur to PhD students with AMP Amplify Ignite, through to fully-fledged start-ups as part of Talent Unleashed. Our goal is to unleash potential and these initiatives are critical to this purpose,” Nielsen said.

The winning teams’ prizes include the Ultimate Kidpreneur Adventure Day sponsored by Talent and Entropolis, and an invitation to the exclusive Talent Unleashed Awards. The schools of the winning teams will each receive a Lenovo Laptop computer, a Kidpreneur Challenge Unlimited program license for 2019, and a $500 entrepreneurship education grant.
