Job Description

We are currently looking for a Cyber Security Architect for a 9 month engagement with a large government entity based in Brisbane CBD. You will join the ICT Risk, Security and Compliance unit which serves as the deepartments authority regarding ICT security risk management and ICT risk management practices.

The Cyber Security Architect will:
  • Develop and maintain overall enterprise security architecture to enable the department to confidently innovate with information technology, especially cloud ICT infrastructure.
  • In conjunction with the ICT Governance and Architecture staff and peers at partnering external organisations, develops capability roadmaps, design patterns and technical standards that guide the development of solution architecture, and assist other ICT initiatives towards meeting business requirements, subject to budgetary and risk constraints. 
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and the initiative prioritisation related to the Enterprise (ICT) Security Architecture.
  • In cooperation with the other ICT Governance and Architecture professionals, develop the road maps for the strategic cyber security architectural improvements. These leverage the existing ICT infrastructure, as well as the concurrent and the expected future ICT initiatives, to achieve the maximum business benefits. 
  • Maintain knowledge of the most relevant emerging cyber security threats, cyber security technology, methodologies and IT industry trends. In addition, effectively manage the time invested on these activities to ensure that it does not impact on the delivery of the architectural outcomes.
  • Advise and assist ICT solution architects, and the other stakeholders, on topics relating to the Enterprise Security Architecture and how they can utilise the architecture to reduce costs and lower risks.
  • Assist with the security risk assessment and the ICT security incident monitoring and response as directed.
  • Effectively contribute cyber security architecture expertise to the multi-disciplinary, cross-functional project teams and maintain effective working relationships with the team participants.
  • Demonstrated analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills, including the ability to develop original concepts and solutions necessary to deliver the enterprise information security architecture and the related artefacts.
  • Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of the principles of secure data communication and storage, and encryption and virtualising technology, together with a practical understanding of security methodology and application.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering enterprise security architecture in a large enterprise.
  • Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal, leadership, consultative and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to build and maintain positive and successful working relationships, and to maintain the highest professional standards. 
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in written form, including the development and timely delivery of effective oral presentations and concise written reports, targeted for the appropriate audience, and the ability to liaise with all levels of internal and external customers.
  • Tertiary qualifications from a reputable university in either Information Technology, Information Security, Computer Science,  or a closely related discipline.
  • Ability to lead performance through setting clear direction and expectations, providing support and feedback and monitoring ongoing performance of individuals and the team.
