Role: E-Commerce Technical Support Engineer

Job tasks and responsibilities
  • Demonstrate ownership at all times to the customer and within the team
  • Adopt a pro-active approach to incidents and problems raised
  • Innovate and seek optimizations and efficiencies
  • Perform daily checks & a variety of support tasks within the support team
  • Respond to incidents, investigate root cause and follow their lifecycle through to resolution
  • Ensure customers are updated and tickets are managed with the correct level of information
  • Interact with surrounding support teams to consult on issues
  • Address a variety of ad-hoc queries and run various reports
  • Monitor data interfaces/scheduled jobs to ensure that all systems are running issue free
  • Engage in scheduled work to undertake system upgrades & deployments

 The following skills and experience are required:
  • Excellent all-round communication skills
  • Leadership and autonomous working mind-set
  • OS flavors such as UNIX, Solaris, LINUX
  • SQL skills
  • Database experience with Oracle, DB2 or MySQL
  • Exposure to web applications such as Java or PHP
  • Log management tools
  • Unix scripting (e.g. Perl and bash)
  • Excellent customer service skills and a good understanding of customer focus and updates
  • Incident and problem management is beneficial (preferably ITIL)
  • Good time management and able to multi-task
  • Excellent delivery focus and commitment
  • Team player, able to learn/adapt quickly and take responsibility

Exposure to some of the following areas would be beneficial(BIG BONUS)
  • JDBC skills
  • Experience working with hosting organizations
  • Experience with Magento
  • Experience with IBM's platforms such as WebSphere
  • Performance analysis and diagnosis
