An Infrastructure Engineer is required to provide maintenance and support for IT infrastructure to ensure the stable operation of the organisation's infrastructure (including corporate, PCI, data and voice networks). Carries out routine infrastructure backup, maintenance and monitoring tasks. Runs the IT operations environment; sets up routine processes and activities, designs schedules for routine maintenance and monitoring. Designs and configures automatic monitoring and alerting.

The succesfull candidate will be responsible for implementing practical, flexible detailed designs ensuring they meet the business requirements and remain aligned to the technology roadmap and high-level design. Supports the business by advising on the practicability of solution alternatives marrying up technical limitations with operational realities.

Technical Skills
  • Experience in Payment/PCI environment.
  • Experience working with Split Corporate vs Production workloads
  • Experience with MS Server Suite, MS Azure/O365, AWS
  • Experience with VMWare 6.5/6.7 including VSAN
  • Knowledge of Linux Administration (CentOS, RedHat, Ubuntu) an advantage but not essential
  • Experience with PowerShell, Terraform, Python, Ansible or other automation/scripting tools.
  • Experience with Sumo Logic, Splunk or other monitoring toolsets VMware Associate/Professiona
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or equivalent related experience/Degree
  • ITIL Foundation Certification
  • ITIL Intermediate Certification (Service Lifecycle or Service Capability) an advantage
  • Microsoft MCSA, MCSE, MCSD
  • Cisco CCNA, CCNP, CCDP or equivalent an advantage
  • AWS Solutions Architect/SysOps/DevOps, Azure Infrastructure and Deployment/Integration and Security
  • Demonstrated experience working in highly governed environments (i.e. ISO 27000, ISM, PCIDSS).
  • Ability to train and mentor other members of the team
  • Demonstrated experience working across the following technologies, platforms and disciplines  Windows Server Management including Active Directory, Group Policy and Client/Server Domain
  • Network and server monitoring, capacity planning and server hardening
  • SAN Storage Management and Configuration
  • Cisco router, firewall and switch configurations (Basic) or equivalent
  • Networking knowledge including VPNs, routing, NAT, TCP, MS DNS services, Route53
  • Virtualization experience using VMWare
  • Experience with delivery of Cloud based solutions on Amazon Web Service (AWS) or equivalent
  • Solarwinds or equivalent automated monitoring tools
  • Enterprise Anti-virus Management
  • Managing server/comms rooms/datacentres
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery.
 
Relevant Experience
  • 3 to 5 years demonstrable experience in the design, delivery and management of Infrastructure
  • Outstanding troubleshooting capability with proven ability to find the root cause of an issue and create solutions to complex problems
  • Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams with a focus on excellent service delivery in a rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to be proactive, take direction and establish ownership of issues/problems/projects/task
  • Demonstrated experience working in an ITIL environment with extensive IT Service Management experience across core ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Request & Change); experience working with ServiceNow - highly advantageous
  • Proven experience in driving service improvement
  • Experience in creating knowledge base articles, producing technical and business documentation, defining repeatable processes and process flows
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies
  • Demonstrated experience in driving Infrastructure projects
