Job Description

We are currently looking for a Integration Architect for an until June 2020 contract based in Brisbane CBD for a large government department. A security clearance (Negative Vetting/Baseline) is mandatory to apply. 

Context:
The area provides system-to-system integration and communication solutions for the Department. They support and enhance multiple middleware platforms including API Gateways, an IBM DataPower Enterprise Service Bus, an IBM DataPower Web Service Gateway, event messaging platforms (including IBM MQ and Kafka), and instances of IBM Integration Bus. The section develops solutions using these platforms as well as providing advice and guidance to other development teams. 

Responsibilities:
  • Preparing architectural documents such as High Level Solution Designs, Detailed Designs and Solution Security Architectures for integration solutions;
  • Creating, maintaining and promoting integration architecture documentation including best practice integration guidance and integration patterns;
  • Guiding architecture documentation through the Architectural Governance process in close communication with Enterprise Architects;
  • Providing technical leadership of the Department's Enterprise Integration platforms including:
o  Identifying new integration use cases and evaluating new integration patterns, platforms and techniques;
o  Leading the continuous improvement process on existing integration platforms;
o  Identifying rationalization and decommissioning opportunities;
o  Conducting proof of technology activities on integration platforms;
o  Leading the identification, design and implementation of common frameworks and components for integration platforms;
o  Providing input on the integration strategy for the Department;
  • Providing integration guidance to solution architects, projects and application teams, including education about and promotion of platforms, patterns, standards and best practice;
  • Reviewing solution designs for conformance with integration patterns and architecture;
  • Providing technical leadership and support to the Enterprise Integration Services Section;
  • Building and maintaining stakeholder relationships (including Executives, business representatives, project managers, solution architects);
  • Providing other project support tasks as required.
Requirements:
  • 5 or more years' experience as an architect;
  • A strong background with integration technologies and principles including several of the following:
o  APIs and API management platforms;
o  Event message and asynchronous delivery platforms;
o  Enterprise Services Buses;
o  Service Oriented Architecture including web service modelling;
o  RESTful API modelling;
  •  A strong understanding of integration architecture principles, patterns and best practices;
  • A demonstrated ability to work under pressure and balance the needs of multiple projects;
  • Extensive experience liaising with a diverse set of stakeholders including: architects, managers, developers, business analysts and testers;
  • Well-developed communication skills including presentation skills and written skills;
  • Significant experience preparing architectural documentation such as High Level Solution Designs and Solution Security Architecture;
  • Specified Personnel must hold a current Australian Government Security Clearance (AGSVA) OR be willing to undergo and obtain an AGSVA clearance (BASELINE clearance as a minimum);
  • Specified Personnel must be willing to undergo and obtain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC);
Desirable:
  • Proven experience working on application security designs in government would be highly desirable;
  • Relevant qualifications in architecture, application development or an equivalent software development field;
  • Extensive experience working with complicated, interconnected ICT systems;
  • A good understanding of data, network and application security;
  • Exposure to DevOps, CI-CD, test automation and associated tooling;
  • Experience managing documentation through an architecture review board;
  • Understanding of and experience with industry trends regarding event driven architectures, domain driven design, RESTful APIs and microservices architectures;
  • An ability to provide hands on technical assistance to the team is highly desired.
