12 month initial contract in Geelong to join the Procurement and Corporate Services Branch of a government agency. Potential to extend.This opportunity would be the ideal stepping stone for an experienced Project Coordinator looking to step into a junior PM role.
Context
The Branch ensures the Agency meets legislative obligations regarding information governance and the procurement of products and services. The team provides project management services, briefs, reporting and compliance with all legislative requirements for the Branch.
The role is focused on supporting Capital Works projects in Geelong and Melbourne CBD (office fit out, equipment, relocation, property etc).
Ability to travel between Geelong and Melbourne required.
Role
- APS6 level role with mentoring, work delegation and leadership responsibilities for more junior business support and project officers.
- Develop and maintain project plan of program works for projects across procurement, corporate services and records management.
- Review performance of projects and continuous improvement initiatives
- Status reporting, budgets and discussion papers.
- Improve policies and documentation
Requirements
- Experience in Project Coordinator or Junior Project Manager position
- Experience in local, state, federal government or NFP's
- Experience interpreting government policy and legislative requirements for projects
- Solid reporting skills - briefs, project status, legislative compliance
- Any experience on relocation or capital works projects very highly regarded
- Outstanding communication, engagement and coordination skills
- Willingness to provide on ground support on capital projects in Geelong and Melbourne (some travel)
- Grounding in project management principles - eg. Prince2, PMBOK, PMP, SCRUM Agile
