We are currently seeking an experienced Lead Telecommunications Rigger to join our client on either a permanent or long term contract basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing installation requirements, planning and performing installations, testing installed equipment and fault-finding. This role involves a degree of autonomy and includes supervision of others to ensure the quality of outcomes in a specialised area of installation of telecommunication equipment on high structures, including radio towers.

Responsibilities include:
  • Leading a rigging team, including daily tasks, scheduling, OH&S.
  • Plan work schedule and estimate manpower requirements.
  • Interpret plans and drawings and provide advice with design drawings
  • Read work orders, work permits and safety instruction to determine nature and location of work, job instructions, safety requirements, hazard information and evacuation plan.
  • Perform installs pertaining to high risk work e.g. 2G, 3G, 4G, NBN installation and maintenance of all emergency services.
  • Build and erect guyed masts, freestanding masts, monopoles etc.
  • Maintenance, upgrades and strengthening structures, including taking down and rebuilding existing structures
  • Prepare and install panel antennas and microwave dishes and support hardware.
  • Installing of feeders, coaxial cable, cable connectors, cable clamping, earthing and ground kits.
  • Installation of microwave indoor unit and outdoor unit and commissioning.
  • Perform microwave antenna alignment.
  • Technical install, testing and commissioning of Sites
  • Perform PIM & Sweep Tests
  • Fault finding (electronics)
Successful candidates will hold the following skills and experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years experience within the Telecommunication industry;
  • Experience reading, interpreting and providing advice with plans and design drawings
  • Qualified to work on Vodafone, Optus, Telstra sites
  • Licensed to work on Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia hardware
  • High Risk Licence - Dogging / Rigging Tickets / EWP
  • Elevated Work Platform
  • Tower Rescue and Rope Access Tickets
  • Working At Heights Certificate
  • First Aid and CPR Licence
  • Radhaz RF EME Awareness
  • Drivers Licence
  • Sound understanding of WHS requirements and responsibilities - including SWMS, MOB, JHA's
