The Role

The department is seeking to contract an experienced Network Engineer to contribute to the successful delivery of numerous organisational wide network projects. As a Network Engineer, the successful candidate may also be responsible for managing and mentoring junior Network Engineering staff, including providing technical guidance.

To ensure success the candidate should have extensive demonstrated experience working with enterprise networks, high-level managerial skills, excellent communication and documentation skills and advanced project management skills and have knowledge and skills with in:
  • Configuring/troubleshooting Cisco Wireless with WLC
  • Configuring/troubleshooting Cisco FirePower
  • Configuring/deploying/troubleshooting Cisco Catalyst Switches
  • Managing facilities issues associated with LAN rooms
  • Configuring/deploying/troubleshooting modern Cisco WAN and LAN solutions (including SD-WAN and SDA)
  • Internet Gateway / Web Application Firewalls / Load Balancers
  • Network Management platforms and integrating network devices into the environment
  • Commonwealth IT Security (ISM + PSPF) In relation to the areas above
Skills & Attributes
  • Demonstrated experience as a Networking Engineer within a Federal Government Organisation
  • Demonstrated experience necessary to design, develop, implement and support a range of network solutions. Network solutions include Data Centre Layer 2 switching, routing, firewalls, load balancers and virtual network security
  • Demonstrated experience with CISCO SD WAN technology
  • Advanced knowledge of network operating systems including Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, and IOS.
  • Proven Ability to communicate and champion solutions through stakeholder engagement, informal and formal documentation and manage activities within the ITIL framework, in particular change management
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, creating and implementing network security measures.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop ISM compliant networks that are sustainable and meet business outcomes
