Job Description

We are currently looking for an Security Architect with a government department based in Brisbane CBD. This is an initial 4 month contract with a 6 motnh extension attached based in Brisbane CBD.

The department is undertaking several Transformation/Transition programs and projects and the Security Architect will be required to accelerate the development of Security Architecture capabilities within ICT and the broader Department to deliver uplifted ICT planning rigor and to increase the confidence with which ICT investment decisions can be made.

Ideally you will have:
  • Understanding of applied business and security frameworks architecture and the mapping of attributes that determine the needs for the appropriate levels of security for a large complex enterprise.
  • Provide Information Technology (IT) security systems architecture expertise, consultancy and guidance on the design, development, evaluation and oversee the implementation of network and computer and Identity and Access Management security in accordance with the department's enterprise architecture principles, patterns, guidelines and standards as they relate to the department's business systems.
  • Responsible for the Information Technology (IT) security architecture, Lead the design, development, evaluation and oversee the implementation of network and computer security for the department and oversee the Project Delivery team in delivering major ICT projects ensuring they are secure and aligned to their strategic direction and by providing leadership and guidance to a high-performing team which includes cyber security practitioners.
  • Provision of high level network monitoring and complex troubleshooting activities to analyse all layers of the network and Application logs to support current and future initiatives and departmental strategies.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop compliant Security Architecture for complex systems ensuring consistency with specified requirements. 
  • Examine and provide specialist advice on the impacts of new technologies on the department's overall information security and implications.
  • Determine security requirements by evaluating business strategies and requirements.
  • Experience with researching information security standards.
  • Conduct system security and vulnerability analyses and risk assessments.
  • Implement security systems by specifying intrusion detection methodologies and equipment; directing equipment and software installation and calibration; preparing preventive and reactive measures.
  • Assess, evaluate and make recommendations to management regarding the adequacy of the security controls.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors and outside consultants as appropriate on required security assessments and audits.
  • Participate in cyber security governance committees.
  • Knowledge, experience and understanding of IT architecture/platforms and prepare cost estimates ensuring the buy in from stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • SABSA or CISSP certification is required.
  • ISO 27001 design and implementation experience is required.
Skill requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in an Security Architecture role in a small/medium and complex organisation.
  • Experience in the implementation or redesign of an Security Architecture practice is required.
  • OWASP certification is desirable.
  • Experience and knowledge of the Digital Transformation domain.
  • Experience and knowledge of the Security domain.
  • Experience and knowledge of the Identity Management domain.
  • Experience and knowledge of the Network domain.
  • Experience and knowledge of the Cloud Services and hosting domain.
  • Experience and knowledge of the End User Compute domain.
  • Prior experience and knowledge of small/medium scale employment, small business and training environment.
  • High level written and oral communication skills and excellent organisational skills.
  • Experience in change management.
  • Exceptional problem-solving capabilities with a focus on simplification.
  • Experience working with senior level stakeholders.
