Working with an established team within a goverment department you will be focused on working with internal customers and other departments to provide solutions 

Work required to be performed
  • Administration of AWS servers & implementation of AWS services
  • Administration of Windows Server systems on premises and Cloud
  • Monitoring of servers and services for proactive support
  • Administration of a SQL Server database platform
  • Administration of IIS Web Server environments
  • Maintain currency in server infrastructure, operating systems and relevant supported software
  • Hardware upgrades on server infrastructure (On premises & Cloud)
  • Producing and maintaining quality systems documentation
  • Communicate with clients giving advice on hosting solutions offered by Application Hosting
  • Provide timely and detailed oral/written advice as required on software, hardware and security matters

Responsibilities include
  • Technical administration of Windows Server environments
  • Technical administration of SQL Server database platforms
  • Technical advice for supported clients
  • Regular reporting for software currency and availability information
  • Perform actions as part of the rotating weekly duty roster, including being part of either morning duty or afternoon duty
  • Ensure that deliverables are prioritised and completed within the specified timeframes
  • Compliance with departmental Technical Architecture
  • Compliance to change, configuration, incident and problem management methodologies and systems.
  • Assist with other technical services(Application hosting) as directed by the Team Leader, Application Hosting, or delegated Senior System Administrators, Application Hosting.
  • The Contractor may also be required to undertake other duties as directed by the Director Operations, or Manager Systems Hosting.

Essential Qualifications/Certifications/Skills
  • Windows Server System Administration (minimum of Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2012 R2/Windows Server 2016 ),Windows Containers
  • Microsoft IIS Server Administration
  • Microsoft SQL Server Administration(SQL Server 2008 R2, SQL Server 2012/SQL server 2016)
  • PowerShell, VB Script, or other relevant scripting languages
  • AZURE or AWS cloud server administration
  • System Centre Configuration Manager

The desirable experience and knowledge of the following are beneficial
  • Supported AWS using EC2 instances, S3, simple DB, RDS(SQL), VPC
  • Hands own experience in AWS IAAS, PAAS
  • Manage EC2 launch configuration and auto scaling group AWS. Elastic cache, Elastic beanstalk, cloud watch
  • Automated deployment of products using cloud transformation script
  • Implementation experience s3 backups, Elastic beanstalk, monitoring tools
  • Designed cloud solutions for customers leveraging services including, but not limited to, VPC, EC2, S3, RDS, Route53, Cloud Formation,  Cloud Watch
  • YAML/JSON development especially relating to infrastructure as code
  • AWS IAM Policies, AWS API scripting
  • A good understanding of AWS Cloud security concepts - Security Groups, network security, encryption, auditing, monitoring and logging.  Experience working with AWS Marketplace products - e.g. Application Firewalls would also be a bonus
